JCA is seeking nominations for our annual Life
Saving Awards, to be presented at our Emergency Medical Services Recognition
Awards Banquet on Wednesday, May 19, 2010. The Life Saving Award honors
citizens of any age in the JCA service area who have saved, or attempted to save, a life under
unusual or extraordinary circumstances. The life saving deed must have
occurred within the last year and the nominee must not have received any
awards from other organizations.
We are also looking for nominations of "Heart
Healthy" organizations or businesses in the JCA service area that have prepared for cardiac
emergencies at their workplaces. The Heart Safe Organization Award
recognizes businesses or other organizations that have met the following
criteria for creating a “heart safe” environment:

automated external defibrillators (AEDs) strategically placed in
buildings or on campus

staff trained in CPR and use of AEDs
- a
regularly practiced cardiac emergency response plan
The
