JACKSON, MICH. Jackson Community
Ambulance paramedics Rick Martin, John Vidolich, and Emily Ward won third
place in the Advanced Life Support practical competition at the 2004
Emergency Medical Services Expo statewide competition, held April 24 in
Grand Rapids. Rick Martin also won third place in the written paramedic
competition. Emergency Medical Technicians Greg Smith and Dale Willett from Huron Valley Ambulance, JCA’s parent company based in Ann Arbor, won third prize in the Basic Life Support practical competition. This is the second year this same team has won. EMS Expo is Michigan’s largest continuing education conference for the emergency medical profession. Employees from ambulance services throughout the state compete individually on written exams and in teams for practical scenarios. Jackson Community Ambulance is owned by Huron Valley Ambulance, a nationally accredited, nonprofit regional ambulance service and Foote Health System, a nonprofit health system based in Jackson. JCA covers all or part of eight southeast and south central Michigan counties.
