Jackson Community Ambulance
paramedic Bob Ackley was named Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) of the
Year by the Michigan Association of Emergency Medical Technicians. Bob’s
award was announced on April 24 at the 2004 Emergency Medical Services Expo
in Grand Rapids. The Michigan Association of Emergency Medical Technicians is one of the major sponsors of the annual EMS Expo, Michigan’s largest continuing education conference for the emergency medical profession. Bob has worked for Jackson Community Ambulance since it began operations in November 1996 and had worked for JEMS prior to that. He began as an EMT-Specialist and obtained his paramedic license in 1997. A resident of Leslie, Bob also works with and volunteers at Leslie Area Ambulance Service. At JCA, Bob is known for his hard work. In addition to staffing an ambulance full-time, he orients and trains new employees; co-coordinates JCA’s Camp 9-1-1 program, raises funds and organizes events for Leslie Ambulance; and even plays “Santa Claus” to local children and a few lucky patients. “Bob has more than earned this recognition. He works hard and always goes the extra mile,” states Dirk Borton, JCA’s vice president for operations. Jackson Community Ambulance is a nationally accredited, nonprofit community service covering Jackson County.
